This design project is a furniture set inspired by Chinese product memory of the 1990s. By translating the old fashion into a current context, familiarity, and psychological or emotional resonance can be brought by new products to face the new challenge of localization in the new period of globalization.
Object and context are inseparable. Meaning, interpretation and function are derived from the relation between them. Extrapolate is a luminaire which refers to and extends the object and context using existing points, becoming a versatile object. It became the start of a series of objects, which integrate with the context. Intersect is a hanger based on using a corner for stability. Offset uses a flat surface of a table, desk or shelf to extend its use and functionality for storage.
A study at the intersection of user and object, and how the word disparity became a concept that enables designers to create very different experiences.
