Mood lamp
In this project we wanted to reuse an existing Toyota part as well as explore generative design; a tool used in the car industry to design components that meet specific performance requirements while minimising material usage and production costs.
The used Toyota part is an electromagnetic brake that we turned into the lamp’s base. Then we worked with generative design to create a 3D printed aluminium light fixture that also works as the heat sink, distributing and removing heat from the device.
