Large Scale Fermentation

A way to extend the lifetime of our food

The project aimed to develop a solution for medium- to large-scale fermentation, with a main focus on sustainability. Fermentation is a way of conserving food. By eating more fermented food, we can extend the lifetime of our food and maintain a locally-produced diet as well as reduce the number of imported products. The material choice is overall acid-proof stainless steel. The material is especially suited for the acid environment created during the fermentation process, to keep the material from reacting with the saltwater. Stainless steel is a circular material, making it recyclable and durable to last for generations. The user will be able to create large batches of fermented food. The product will help us to eat more locally produced and extend the lifetime of vegetables.
