Going to the saunas has always been popular in Scandinavia. However, today the visitors are usually groups of friends who have come there to talk about their day. This means that the otherwise calming situation is now overwhelmed by the noise. In cooperation with Abstracta I measured the acoustics of the sauna in Ribersborg, Malmö, Sweden, and dedicated sound absorbing panels as the solution. My project was to create sound panels that could also work as a distraction. Figurative and abstract shapes are hidden in the inspiring pattern, giving the spectator moments of curiosity while enjoying the tranquil and healing atmosphere of sauna
