Playfulness in public furniture
Urban Animal is a seating concept that embraces playfulness, a seating concept that is meant to stand out in the space it occupies. Urban Animal is designed to inspire the user to explore it, to spike interest and curiosity.
The design is inspired by the term “Play-bow”. Play-bow is the pose many animals use to signal their wish to play. The legs and tables are meant to abstract this pose.
I wanted to transfer this feeling to my design in order to create a playful seating area for public spaces. The abstraction of an animal is meant to disrupt the space and to stand out from more traditional types of public furniture we are used to.
