Raw Helmet

Cocohelmet is an experiment to find substitutions for plastic use in Indonesia’s local motorcycle culture. The coconut husk is natural protection, yet is usually discarded as agricultural waste in Indonesia. It is a pity that countries rich with natural resources such as Indonesia rely on plastics rather than using natural materials. In this helmet, components of coconut husk exist in different structures to create different material properties. Raw fibre is used for reinforcing the outer shell while rubberized fibre is used for the liner to reduce collision impact. Coconut peat is mixed with fibre for colouring.
