In the summer of 2020, the Swedish tourism industry crashed with many going on “staycation” – exploring nature in their home country. There were boats everywhere along the Swedish coastline, which quickly led to the question, how did new boat users navigate and learn sea ethics if this was their first boating experience?
In today’s nautical chart devices there is a large oversight in relation to who the intended users are and should be.
The gap in today’s market of navigation and learning systems can be solved by lowering the step-in to interpret nautical cars and to include educational practice within both sea ethics and boat handling. This is in parallel to a hands-on practice which stimulates the concept of “learning-by-doing”.
The outcome visually combines nautical chart standards with existing navigation systems for land and apps for tracking development and activities within sports.
