ALGAE FARMING

In the coming years, we will see a large number of sea farmers begin to grow algae and seaweed along the Swedish coast. Concrete anchors keep the culture ropes in place and buoys are used to keep the crop at the right depth.

The anchor is designed to improve the marine ecosystem. This is done by creating cavities where lobsters and other species can hide. The rough surface will make it easier for algae and seaweed to grow, which creates environments where many marine species thrive.

The buoy is made out of stainless steel instead of plastic. It is painted red and white and has a flag that makes it visible in the water.
